Fun Times! [Weezer - "Memories"]

Not a fan of Jackass, but Weezer, fuck yeah! Fun times, this song. And raw.

I hear an anthem in the making. That is, if the band and the recording company wouldn't be a jackass, pulling out Youtube videos with this song.

I sea food!

It's World Food Day. And I sea food.

In Tagbilaran City, you don't know nothing if you don't know Kainggit, and at Kainggit, you haven't eaten nothing until you've had its renowned kinilaw na kuja (some kind of oyster).

Additionally, it's #sentisabado time and what perfect time to hark back the glory days of Kainggit, when it was the bomb way back when. But yes, Kainggit, is still there. And the kuja. And camote, saging, and lechon. But most of all, yes, the floor's all still slimy and slippery!

[Notice that I'm writin' in US slang, which ain't necessarily grammatically correct. Hah!]

Blog Action Day - No Way! Panglao Artificial Islands

The absurdity that is the  proposed project dubbed Panglao Oasis Islands

Today is Blog Action Day. This year bloggers from around the world unite to fight the global water crisis.

While we, an archipelagic country, surrounded and within vast water resources, and poured yearly with an abundance of rain, rain and more rain, we have also been stricken with the un-funny irony of having a scarcity of potable water. True. And in Bohol, Panglao Island is the most wanting of water.

As it is, they are in deep shit already. There's the airport that the governorship is scrambling to get back on the pipeline after reportedly being held back by the yellows. And now they're adding more, with the proposal of artificial islands, what they are envisioning as the Panglao Oasis Islands. The freakin' what? A crisis in the making that's what. Not just for potable water. Not just the fisher folks of Panglao, but the the rich and diverse marine ecosystem in the area. Not just the sea waters around Panglao, but the sea waters in Central Visayas.

Today is Blog Action Day and we say - fuck no - to the Panglao reclamation proposal. Hell no, to the Panglao Oasis Islands!

[This is just a brief note on the Panglao Oasis Islands Project for Blog Action Day. A full feature opposing the reclamation projects in Panglao is still in the works. And yeah, we are taking these to the streets, the beaches, the airwaves, the twitter waves.]

You may say I'm a dreamer, I'm not the only one.

John Lennon turns 70 today. But he'll live on to be forever 40.

Thank you for the music Mr. John Lennon.

[SentiSabado time. I'm picking this up from the great Twitterverse and will be doing this hereon. That's the idea right. Remembrance of things past.]

Help, I'm alive, my heart keeps beating like a hammer

Metric's latest album, Fantasies, is easily the most played playlist in my media player in the past months. Next to Madonna's Celebration, maybe.

I first heard this, Help I'm Alive,  in a Tudors teaser back in BH. I was awestruck. Hypnotized probably. Moved most definitely.

I tried to look it up and to my surprise it's by Metric, one of the really cool bands that I've just discovered recently. The acoustic version is especially more riveting.

Wahooo!

Today I learned I'm actually afraid of heights. No really.

We got invited (via Sunday Post's lifestyle section Flare and courtesy of the Loboc LGU) to try out the newest eco-adventure offering in the province, the Loboc Eco-Adventure Park. And I was really excited because I saw the pics from another newspaper The Bohol Chronicle the previous Sunday and it looked really awesome to view the Loboc River and the Busai from above.

Try 17

This song by Janis Ian - At Seventeen (1975). I thought I've heard it before, turns out I did. Albeit, Sitti's version, which I did have a copy in my media player. I actually like Sitti's version more (blasphemous I know) for its heightened bossa flavor, but also prevented me from focusing on the lyrics, which is beautiful and sad.
I learned the truth at seventeen
That love was meant for beauty queens
And high school girls with clear skinned smiles
Who married young and then retired

The valentines I never knew
The Friday night charades of youth
Were spent on one more beautiful
At seventeen I learned the truth...

And those of us with ravaged faces
Lacking in the social graces
Desperately remained at home
Inventing lovers on the phone
Who called to say "come dance with me"
And murmured vague obscenities
It isn't all it seems at seventeen...

[ I don't really like naming my favorites out loud but yes, 17 is actually my fave number because that's when I was born and sort of have had a superstitious, almost, affinity with it, 7 especially. So there.]

Across the Universe

We're looking at the same moon.

We're looking at the same moon - differently.

You see it waxing.
I see it waning.

Let's wait for the full moon, yes.

A full moon is a full moon.

A full moon is all fools' moon.

Let's wait for the full moon, yes.

[ Fiona Apple's Across the Universe is perhaps one of the few songs I could listen on loop all day long. I fucking love it, I could cry. The Beatles is the best band ever, really. Their poetry is just, ugh, I wish I could write like this. "Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup, they slither while they pass, they slip away across the universe." It's so un-fuckin-fair.]

Camiguin Flash Trip

There's something mystical and enchanting about Camiguin. A visit on this island borne of fire never fails to fascinate me. It still has this virginal, mysterious and refreshing aura to it that draws us into its rugged, yet enticing arms.

And so, when LifestyleBohol's Sonieta, invited my to join the LB team in a Camiguin trip, without hesitation,  I jumped into chance of visiting the island again. This was a sponsored experience by the Bahay Bakasyunan Sa Camiguin, where we were to be billeted and be toured in the island provinces popular attractions.

The Wedding

Someone's waay off-color. Didn't read the memo, yah?

Happy times! It's Taweng's wedding day. Didn't get to know the husband much, but she's in good hands, yes!

We're in an ultra small city, right, but we all pretty much have separate lives basically. So, us, this particular group, this many, in one sitting, definitely called for an after-party. It's all about the booze bb.
